PSN-YPG Ushers in New Leadership at 97th PSN Annual Conference
The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) has ushered in a new era of leadership following a successful national election held on November 6, 2024, at the 97th PSN Annual Conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The event, which witnessed robust participation from young pharmacists across the nation, was marked by a transparent and well-organized electoral process. Pharm. Tekena George emerged as the National Chairman with an impressive 213 votes, surpassing his closest rivals: Pharm. Life Ebong (161 votes), Pharm. Hope Onyemaechi (52 votes), and Pharm. Lucky Osarenkhoe (3 votes). Pharm. Sani Rapha Tachio was elected unopposed as National Vice Chairman, while Pharm. Daniel Akpan assumed the role of National Secretary, also unopposed. Other key positions were filled as follows: Assistant National Secretary: Pharm. Ariwodo Esther, unopposed.

PSN-YPG Partners with Glo Nigeria to Enhance Connectivity and Digital Solutions for Young Pharmacists
In a landmark development, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) has announced a strategic partnership with Glo Nigeria to deliver affordable communication solutions and a robust digital platform aimed at empowering young pharmacists across the country.The partnership was formalized during a meeting in Lagos between the PSN-YPG leadership, led by National Chairman Pharm. Tekena George, and Mr. Joshua Durunguma, Lagos State Head of Small & Medium Enterprises at Glo Nigeria. Key Features of the Partnership 1. Development of a PSN-YPG Website Glo Nigeria will provide the platform for creating a dedicated PSN-YPG website. This platform will centralize the group's activities, offering a professional interface to attract sponsorships and partnerships by leveraging user engagement and site traffic.

PSN-YPG Explores Strategic Partnership with Medplus to Empower Young Pharmacists
On 22nd November 2024, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) conducted a working visit to the headquarters of Medplus, one of Nigeria's largest and most innovative retail pharmacy chains.Medplus has distinguished itself not only with its expansive retail footprint but also as a major employer of young pharmacists in Nigeria, playing a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of pharmacy professionals. During the visit, PSN-YPG's leadership, led by National Chairman Pharm. Tekena George, engaged in strategic discussions with the Medplus management. The talks focused on collaborative efforts to design impactful programs that would empower young pharmacists, foster professional growth, and enhance their contributions to Nigeria's healthcare sector.

CERVICAL CANCER ELIMINATION DAY OF ACTION
Each year, 17th November 2024, marks the 4th anniversary of the global movement to eliminate CERVICAL CANCER . In 2020, 194 countries resolved to eliminate a cancer for the first time and WHO launched the Global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem with a global Day of Action for Cervical Cancer Elimination. Each year, advocates around the world continue the annual tradition, coming together as governments and partners make new commitments toward achieving the global strategy targets, which is to raise awareness and organize local activities to take action for elimination.

Official Launch of the Maiden Edition of the North Central Coordinator's Award
On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the Central Executive Council (CEC) of PSN-YPG, we are excited to announce the official launch of the Maiden Edition of the North Central Coordinator's Award. The inaugural award was presented to Pharm. Ogezi David Otse on the 15th of November 2024, during the Induction/Oath-taking ceremony at the University of Jos, Nigeria. This prestigious award, sponsored by the North Central Coordinator, Pharm. Obute A. Obute, recognizes outstanding contributions, innovations, and leadership by pharmacy students and young pharmacists through the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS). It marks the beginning of activities in the North Central zone and aims to celebrate excellence in leadership within the profession. The award was presented by the Plateau State Coordinator, PSN-YPG, Pharm. Doumanan Christian, who represented the North Central Coordinator. Also present were the immediate past Plateau State Coordinator, Pharm. Pamdusu Polycarp, and Pharm. Wanche Ernest.
